Bruntwood asked Reid to carry out feasibility and concept refurbishment studies for Alberton House, which faces the River Irwell on the border with Salford.
The existing building is a 70's block giving over 100,000 sq. ft.of lettable space in 2 blocks of five and eleven storeys.
Reid had previously re-designed the common parts for the building and Bruntwood, preparing for the upcoming vacant possession, extended that brief to cover the whole building.
With a primary driver of the brief being the letting of the space in a very competitive market, Reid looked at the building both internally and externally to look creatively at bringing forward an exciting addition to the city's office stock.
Core design elements covered demolitions and extensions to rationalise the spaces, envelope and facade re-design to improve visual quality and environmental performance through to review of mechanical and electrical services replacement and integration, interior design and workspace analysis.
