Highfield is a private house within the prestigious residential area of Prestbury in Cheshire. The site, significantly set back from the road and bounded by mature landscape, offered the opportunity to design a modern, family home in a peaceful and secluded setting.
The house was commissioned by a private developer, with the brief to design a 605 square metre/6,500 square foot house of exceptional design quality for contemporary family living.
The design uses traditional house form but maintains a contemporary appearance. This is achieved predominantly through the use of a more modern palette of materials such as zinc and timber, together with extensive use of glass which breaks down the form of the brick.
The glazed openings are detailed as sliding and folding screens which can be completely dissolved to create close relationships between internal and external spaces.
Internally, the spaces fuse together to create inspiring spaces that make full use of light and views at every opportunity.
The house includes a pool, spa, sauna and gymnasium, with fully integrated services throughout.
