Reid Architects was appointed by Property Alliance Group to design a refurbishment/regeneration scheme for a 1,100 sq metre/12,000 sq foot vacant office building in Hale, Cheshire.
The brief included the extension of the existing building, re-modelling of the external envelope and the rationalisation of the internal layout. The design is intended to give a clean modern exterior whilst still maintaining a focus on the upgrading of the interior spaces.
Reid Architects chose a palette of zinc cladding and curtain walling to upgrade the quality of the exterior and worked with the owner to re-model the entrance/reception lobbies and common parts.
By rigorous review of the Building Regulations Reid was able to rationalise the internal spaces by reducing the areas given over to fire escape stairs and lobbies thus giving a better gross/net areas ratio.
